今晩のご飯はステーキであった。つい、２．３日前に遡るが仕事中に隣の課長より腕時計のベルト調節をするぞという人声がかかった。その瞬間、仲の良い同僚に声にかけに行き、即日にちが決まった。ちなみにその速さは仕事ではあり得ないほどの速さで決まったのである。何故、課長の時計のベルト調節で反応するかと言うと、実は前にも同じことが２度もあったため、頭の悪い私も直ぐにピンときたわけで、パブロフの犬かのように早かった訳である。で、今日がその日だったこともあり、仕事終わりが近づいてソワソワしてるのを周りの人にも悟られながら、ステーキを食べに行くぞと心で思いながら、まず、時計のベルト調節のお店に一緒に行くメンバーを私の車に乗せて食べに行くのであった。いや、まずベルトの調節をしに行くのである。時計店について直ぐにベルト調節の依頼をするものの、その店にある時計を眺めながら時間を潰す、何分くらいたっただろうか・・私には凄く長い時間に思えたが、周りの人を見るとそうでも無さそうだ。まぁ、でもやっと私の中での心待ちにしていたステーキに在りつけた。IKステーキという今はNYでは流行らなくなり、撤退して業績も下がり基調な店ではあったが、皆で並んでそれぞれ肉を選んで好みの焼き方でオーダーして待つ、ステーキが来た時には、涎も垂れそうな勢いでステーキソースをかけジュワッと音を立てる鉄板の上のものを切り裂き獣のように食べる感じがたまらなく、毎回この瞬間が美味しく感じてしまう。今日もいつもに増して美味しく感じた。また皆で食べに行きたいものだ。最後に帰りの車の中ではあまりに笑いすぎな運転をしながら帰って行ったことを付け加えておこう。
